Appeals (Federal and State)
An appeal is when a court's decision is challenged based on legal reasoning in a higher court. They can take place in both federal and state courts. No new evidence is admitted during the appellate process but the technical aspects of the trial court's decision are re-examined. The attorney then shows how these perceived errors affected the facts of the original case and gives arguments for why the ruling should be over-turned.
There are ten circuit courts in federal court with the ultimate court of appeals being the Supreme Court of the United States. The firm of Robbins, Tunkey, Ross, Amsel, Raben & Waxman have over 30 years of experience in appeals and have been heard in front of the Supreme Court. |
